2.1 Content of maps
Only spatial information, i.e. information on the shape and location of geographic features, and conventional lines, i.e. cartographic grid, area boundaries, should be included on the map.
No other graphical information should be included (such as pie charts or bar graphs showing economic, social or other phenomena in particular parts of the area), political information (e.g. on the regime of territorial units), or figures showing the size of the areas, number of inhabitants, etc. Such information should be provided in a separate section of the map.
Such information should be provided in separate tables or lists, easily accessible when reading the map. Individual information may be provided in the explanation of abbreviations, next to the respective names (e.g. the height of a mountain peak is provided next to the explanation of the abbreviation of the name).
The amount of graphic information on the map must be adapted to the student's ability at the given level of education.
